Remember the federal funding that will save 160,000 teacher and public safety jobs at the state and local government level?
Remember the good old days when Mark Kirk, senate candidate from Illinois, said he would vote for the bill, then decided to vote against it under pressure from the republican leadership?

Suddenly, Kirk's caving to put party politics over Illinois schools and jobs seems downright respectable, thanks to the casual hypocrisy of republican candidate for governor Bill Brady, who is against the funding but for getting the funds. See the distinction? Me neither.

Republican candidate for governor Bill Brady said Thursday that Congress was wrong to pass an aid package that will give Illinois nearly $1 billion for teachers and health care.
Brady said the $26 billion legislation will increase the federal deficit and leave Illinois with a bigger budget hole to fill next year.
Wait, getting one billion leaves us with a BIGGER budget hole next year? Well, I'm not sure how that works, but for god's sakes, man, we shouldn't take that money, right? We are all against budget holes, right?
Time to take a stand, then, Brady and reject the money that actually costs us dearly.
Brady said Illinois should not reject the federal aid. If Congress has decided to spend the money, he said, Illinois should get its fair share.
SO we want our fair share of whatever is going to make Illinois's problems WORSE?
Um, okay. Wasn't Brady's failed real estate ventures and record of leaving government holding the bag and complete lack of any redeeming political or government resume enough?
