Send Michael Steele to the rescue to paint a holistic picture for the conservative party.
He's currently on CNN with Wolfe Blitzer denouncing President Carter's remarks this morning. He did admit that the party is not as diverse as he'd like, but insists there's really not as much racism as President Carter states. I'm always intrigued when the subject of race comes up, and they send Michael Steele out to rebut the charges.
I could respect him more, it he would at least acknowledge and denounce the vile rhetoric, but he doesn't even make an attempt to do that. I know his mama is ashamed of him. I don't profess that most of the conservative party is racist, but there is an element that infuses unease. It doesn't help that leading conservative spokesmen are leading the charge with coded innuendos.
Let's be big boys and girls and try to work this problem through. To be in denial is remiss and insulting to blacks and whites. The way to tackle a problem is to meet it head on.
