Well, that's how I read it, is there any other way to read it?
This is from McCain's appearance in Ohio:
Aug 7, 4:06 PM (ET)
LIMA, Ohio (AP)
"Government is too big, he wants to grow it. Taxes are to [sic] high, he wants to raise them," McCain said. "Congress spends too much and he proposes more. We need more energy and he's against producing it. We're finally winning in Iraq, and he wants to forfeit."
So, John, what you're saying in this quote from your appearance in Ohio is:
Republicans and President Bush, who have been in charge over the last 8 years, have caused the government to balloon in size to a ridiculous level.
Congress, which you are and have been a member of for 20+ years, has been spending money like a drunken Navy pilot.
We desperately need more ENERGY resources, but the people in charge of congress (Republicans) over the last 12 years, haven't done anything about it, and even the "oil man" in the White House couldn't find more oil if it was sitting in a can on his desk.
So....
You're running as a Republican, huh? You're telling us that you are somehow different and that we should elect you to lead for another 4 - 8 years? Why on earth, would we?
I'll say this anyway, You've sure got chutzpah!
.
Finally, you are saying that we are winning in Iraq, so by whatever mystery benchmarks that you and your party are measuring this by but won't articulate, it could be assumed that certain trend lines such as violent acts, return of civil services, etc. should continue in the same positive directions, there by allowing for a steady draw-down of troops. Because otherwise, we would be a failure and be defeated in Iraq if this doesn't happen, right? After all, G. W. Bush said, "as they stand-up, we'll stand down."
Sounds just like what Obama intends to do, right?
