Here's the genius behind the bill.
Rep. John Becker (R), who sponsored the bill, said during Tuesday’s hearing that birth control pills should not be banned under HB 351. But he still wants IUDs, which are long-acting forms of birth control that are inserted in the uterus, to fall under the ban because he considers IUDs to be a form of abortion. “This is just a personal view. I’m not a medical doctor,” he said.By all means, let's all legislate medicine on the basis of our personal views. While I'm not a medical doctor, my personal view is that Rep. John Becker is a colossal asshole, and in order to find out precisely why, he should be subject to monthly, unanesthetized colonoscopies until the root cause of his assholery is determined. Medical science demands it. We could make a law out of that, no?
I know that it's very hard for all these #NotaScientists to restrain themselves—much harder apparently than it is to educate themselves, particularly when it comes to lady parts. But good lord. I guess there's one thing to feel heartened about. Becker apparently thinks banning birth control pills is too radical. Even though he's not bright enough to figure out that that's what his legislation does.
